Service Policies
Information to Assist You…
The IPL Service Policy and Customer Service Policy provide customers with the information
and specifications they may need in order to safely use electricity.
IPL staff use their expertise and experience to build and maintain a quality electric
transmission and distribution system for the City of Independence IPL staff are
available to advise customers and answer questions regarding specifications and
safety when customers are planning electric service installations.
For questions about electrical inspections and City codes, customers should contact
the City Codes Department at 325-7405.
The standards put forth in the IPL Electric Service Policy are supplementary to
the National Electric Code ANSI/NFPA 70 and the National Electric Safety Code ANSI
C2 and municipal ordinances in force in the City of Independence .
