Pleading (Non-Mandatory Appearance)
Pleading "Not Guilty" to non-mandatory courtroom appearance offenses
If you desire to plead "not guilty", you or your attorney may appear at the "Traffic
Violations Bureau" 111 E. Maple, Independence, Missouri 64050 or call (816)325-7236
and request a not guilty trial date. If you received a ticket with a mail-in fine,
you must request a not guilty court date within 30 days of the violation.
Pleading "Guilty" to non-manditory courtroom appearance cases
with no court date issued
If your fine is payable by mail, a notice will be sent to the address on the front
of the ticket. Payments must be received no later than the due date shown on the
mail-in notice. Please use the envelope provided and indicate your ticket number
on your check or money order. If you do not receive a mailer within two weeks after
receiving your ticket, call the court at (816)325-7230 for instructions. All returned
checks are subject to penalty and issuance of a warrant for your arrest. DO NOT MAIL
CASH. Make checks payable to Independence Municipal Court. (No counter checks
or starter checks.)
