The Independence Police Executive Officer responsibilities include developing action plans for researching, selecting, and overseeing the design development, and implementation of new systems required for the police department to accomplish the mission, goals, and objectives set forth by the Chief of Police and departmental policies. The Executive Officer oversees the purchase of new systems and ensures the system performs optimally prior to contract finalization. 

The Executive Officer also advises and assists in long term planning, oversees the design and development of specialty projects, technology purchases and upgrades, and manages the research and development of innovative projects designed to keep the Independence Police Department on the cutting edge of professional performance.
