The Operations Division serves the emergent needs of the community with response
to emergency medical calls, fires and explosions, bomb threats, vehicle accidents,
hazardous chemical spills, and other emergency calls. The Division assists the community
with non emergent needs by insuring compliance with fire codes, assisting the Fire
Prevention Division in public education and responding to citizen requests for non-emergency
services.
The Operations Division consists of three Shift Commanders who are assigned to one
of the three shifts, working 24 hours on-duty followed by 48 hours off duty.
The Operations Division employs 45 Fire Captains, 42 Fire Equipment Operators, 66
Firefighters, and 6 Assistant Fire Chiefs.
During the 2005-2006 year, Operations responded to 13,354 alarms. Of those alarms,
8,998 were medical, 169 residential fires, 123 vehicle fires, 165 grass/trash, 179
open burning, 12 bomb threats, 44 hazardous materials, 490 alarm systems and 184
carbon monoxide checks.
