Anniversary Celebrations
The focus of the Sister City relationship is based on two cultures getting to know
one another and learning from the experience. Since the Exchange Program is based
on teenagers touring each others cities every five years, a tour is set aside for
the adults to have a chance at participating in the exchange.
Adult exchange trips are then signified by having Anniversary celebrations in both
Higashimurayama and Independence. Banquets, touring and home stays are a part of
the five day visit. In this short time the food, culture and friendships are shared
and renewed from anniversary to anniversary.
Adult Ambassadors from Independence are planning a trip to Japan for the fall of
2008 to celebrate the friendship between the two cities.
This Spring the Sister City Commission hosted adult guests from Higashimurayama.
