George Owens Nature Park has given families the opportunity to reconnect with their natural environment since 1977. The park is open year round and provides 86 acres of beautiful forest, lakes, hiking trails and wildlife. Explore the rustic nature center and find new seasonal exhibits. Get up close to a snake, touch antlers, or count the rings on a tree. Experience the beauty of a 150 gallon freshwater aquarium with Missouri fish or peer into a 75 gallon turtle enclosure. The possibilities for adventure are endless.

2nd Annual Plein Air Event
All Ages / 3 Day Event
Plein Air means that the artist is working on site at the park, not from a picture.
Families: This is a free event. Bring a picnic lunch and watch the artists at work.
Artists: Pre-registration is $10. Day of registration is $12. All canvases must have the George Owens Nature Park Stamp and date.

Kids Fishing Derby
Catch some great prizes in our fishing derby. Bring your own fishing gear and bait. Water, sunscreen and a hat are recommended. This event is catch and release. (816) 325-7115.

Individuals and family volunteers will learn about our natural world by assisting park staff. We have volunteer opportunities that will fit your interest - gardening, maintaining bird feeders, assisting with nature programs, etc.
