Our Mission

Provide legal advice and counsel to the City Council, City Manager and all City departments and City-appointed Boards and Commissions.

Our Staff

The City Counselor and staff provide representation for the City with matters of municipal law and represent the City, its officers and employees in special litigation such as contract disputes, personal injury and civil rights cases. The Law Department drafts ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases, and issues advisory opinions.

Municipal court cases for ordinance violations are prosecuted by the City Prosecutor. The Domestic Violence Prosecutor handles the prosecution of cases in the Domestic Violence Court.
