The City of Independence Neighborhood and Housing Services Division is the foundation for dynamic approaches in sustaining and revitalizing Independence Neighborhoods. The Division maintains, creates and administers housing and neighborhood development programs and policies to support, strengthen, and sustain Independence neighborhoods.
The Neighborhood and Housing Services Division develops, strengthens, and sustains polices to encourage neighborhood development and services within the City of Independence. This Division works with neighborhood groups and sub-recipients to effectively allocate Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnerships funds, creates neighborhood plans, and develops policies to address neighborhood issues, fosters neighborhood organizations, and serves as a liaison between citizen and city departments, and promotes neighborhood beautification. The Division uses a variety of community planning and policy skills to take action toward these objectives.
